HYCU® Brings Enterprise-Class Data Protection to Azure DevOps with General Availability of HYCU R-Cloud™ for Azure DevOps

Newest Integration Protects the Entire Delivery System from Repos, Boards, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Organization Settings

Boston, Massachusetts, Sept. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HYCU, Inc., the #1 AI Resilience company, today announced the general availability of HYCU R-Cloud for Azure DevOps, purpose-built data protection and granular recovery for the platform tens of thousands of engineering organizations rely on to ship software. The integration is available now in the HYCU Marketplace.

"As we have protected AI driven workloads such as identity and collaboration, it became clear there was a gap for one of the more popular, heavily relied upon DevOps suites in the market,” said Anant Chintamaneni, Chief Product Officer, HYCU. “Customers drove us to address this because of gaps in native options and relationships of all the app components. When teams think about protecting Azure DevOps, they think about repositories. Repositories are the easy part. The real risk lives in the pipeline definitions, the process templates, the wiki that's a Git repo with a service layer bolted on top. Miss any of that and you can restore every file and still hand a team a project they can't work in. That's the gap that we built with HYCU R-Cloud for Azure DevOps to close."

Azure DevOps is the delivery backbone for more than 30,000 companies, including leading financial services, healthcare, automotive, public sector and many of the largest enterprise IT companies across the globe. Until now, teams that rely on it for source control, work tracking, CI/CD, and release management have relied on Microsoft's native recovery tools, which provide a deleted organization or project recoverability for 28 days, a repository for 30 days, and test plans and suites for 14 days. Assets deleted through the destroy parameter bypass the recycle bin entirely and cannot be recovered. Microsoft encourages customers in their documentation to factor this in for enhanced data protection and reocverability.

Why Azure DevOps needs its own protection strategy

Azure DevOps spans five distinct services, Repos, Boards, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Artifacts, each with its own data model. This means there is no single export or script that can produce a usable copy of a project. Work items carry requirements, decisions, and full revision history that took years to build and exist only in the service. Pipeline definitions depend on variable groups, service connections, and agent queues stored in a separate scope from the pipeline itself. Process templates and custom work item types define the schema that work items depend on to exist at all. And a wiki is a Git repository with a service-level registration layered on top, neither purely code nor purely content.

If a user captures the objects without capturing how they fit together, they run the risk of creating a project that nobody can actually work in.

What HYCU R-Cloud for Azure DevOps delivers

HYCU R-Cloud for Azure DevOps protects the full delivery system as one unit and restores it with the same fidelity:

  • Complete delivery system protection: Work items and their history, boards and queries, pipeline definitions, wikis, test plans, and organization settings, not just the repository.
  • Schema-aware backup: Process templates and custom work item types are protected alongside the work items built on them, so projects come back in the shape they were created in.
  • Recovery at any level: A single work item, a repository, a pipeline, a full project, or organization settings can be restored from the same platform, in place, without disrupting teams that weren't affected.
  • Audit-ready evidence: Build and release history, test runs, and the organization audit log are captured and exportable, with retention set independently of Azure DevOps' native windows.
  • Storage-level immutability: Object Lock and WORM immutability keep backups out of reach of a compromised token or an administrator mistake.
  • Customer-owned storage: Backups land in storage the customer owns, in their own account and region, with retention set independently of Azure DevOps' native windows.
  • Unified Microsoft estate protection: Azure DevOps joins Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and GitHub under one HYCU policy framework, managed from a single platform.

"Most vendors treat DevOps protection as a repository problem because repositories are what's visible,” said Philippe Nicolas, Analyst and Market Watcher, Coldago Research. “HYCU is making the case that the real unit of protection is the delivery system itself, schema, pipeline, history, and all the connective tissue that native tools do not cover past 30 days. That's a more accurate model of what engineering teams actually depend on, and it's the same coverage thesis HYCU has applied everywhere else in its platform. And it appears that competitors built for the artifact while HYCU built for the system."
